Rainfall
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast indicating that several regions of the country, including Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, will experience rainfall in the coming days.
The forecast predicts that intermittent rainfall will begin in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Wednesday evening and is expected to continue until Sunday, April 20. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are likely to affect northern, central, and southern districts of the province, adding to the severity of the weather conditions.
In preparation for these weather changes, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to all district administrations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The alert stresses the importance of remaining vigilant and ensuring that road links are restored quickly in the event of any disruptions caused by the storms. The PDMA has also instructed that alternative routes be made available for traffic if any roads are closed due to the adverse weather conditions.
Additionally, the PDMA has advised tourists to stay informed about the weather forecast and road status before traveling to tourist destinations, urging them to contact the relevant helplines for updates.
Rain is also expected in other parts of the country, including Islamabad, Punjab, Murree, Galiyat, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, by April 20. In some areas, the rainfall could be accompanied by hailstorms, further intensifying the weather.
The Met Office has warned that residents and travelers in these regions should prepare for varying weather conditions over the next few days.
Meanwhile, the ongoing heatwave in parts of Sindh, South Punjab, and Balochistan is predicted to continue until April 18, with high temperatures causing discomfort across these areas.
The weather department has also predicted the possibility of dust storms and strong winds in several districts, including Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Vehari, and Okara, on April 18 and 19. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid exposure to dust and strong winds.
Overall, the country is bracing for a mix of weather conditions over the coming days, ranging from rain and thunderstorms to heatwaves and dust storms. Authorities and residents are urged to stay alert and prepare for the weather disruptions that may occur.
