Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Re-Elected as PPP Chairman for Another Four-Year Term

ISLAMABAD: Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has been re-elected as Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for another four-year term, following the party’s intra-party elections held on Saturday at its Central Secretariat in Islamabad.

According to an official PPP statement, Bilawal retained his position unopposed, continuing to lead the party founded by his grandfather, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

Along with Bilawal’s re-election, several other key appointments were made:

  • Humayun Khan was elected as Secretary-General,
  • Nadeem Afzal Chan as Information Secretary,
  • Aamna Piracha as Finance Secretary.

The election results were officially announced by Fauzia Habib, who served as the election commissioner for the internal polls.

PM Shehbaz extends congratulations

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm congratulations to Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on his re-election as party chairman. In a message of felicitation, the premier also congratulated the newly elected office-bearers, including Humayun Khan and Nadeem Afzal Chan.

He expressed hope that under Bilawal’s dynamic leadership, the PPP would continue to represent the aspirations of the people and play a constructive role in Pakistan’s development and democratic progress.

Bilawal was last elected unopposed as PPP chairman during the party’s 2021 intra-party elections and has since been a key figure in both national politics and international diplomacy.

The re-election cements his position at the helm of one of Pakistan’s major political parties as it navigates a changing political landscape and prepares for future electoral contests.
