In a tragic incident in Lahore’s Hanjarwal area, a 10-year-old domestic worker named Sonia has reportedly died following alleged physical abuse by her employer.
According to police, a murder case has been registered against the employer, Nosheen, and her husband, Farukh Butt, who are both accused of regularly subjecting the child to physical violence.
Sonia’s mother, Rabia, alleged that her daughter was killed for not completing household tasks to the employer’s satisfaction. She further stated that the employer did not seek medical help for Sonia and misled the family by claiming she had only sustained minor injuries.
The family, who traveled from Arifwala upon receiving the call, was devastated to find Sonia lying lifeless on the floor when they arrived.
Rabia has demanded justice for her daughter, claiming negligence and abuse directly led to the child’s untimely and tragic death.
An investigation is underway, and police say further action will be taken based on postmortem findings and witness statements.
