The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms across the northern regions of the country on Thursday, with snowfall anticipated in higher-altitude areas.
In its daily weather update, the PMD stated, “Rain, windstorms, or thunderstorms [with snowfall over mountainous regions] are expected in isolated areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and upper Punjab.”
A shallow westerly wave is currently affecting the upper regions of Pakistan, the Met Office noted. While dry and partly cloudy conditions will prevail in most areas, some cities are expected to receive rainfall over the next two days.

Rain is expected in several areas of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Mastung, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah, Chagai, Nushki, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Harnai, Zhob, and Sherani.
In Punjab, showers are anticipated in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Khanewal.
Parts of Sindh, including Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, and Larkana, are also likely to experience rainfall.
Weather Conditions Over the Past 24 Hours
On Tuesday, most areas of Pakistan experienced partly cloudy weather, with scattered rain, wind, and thunderstorms in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, and the Pothohar region.
Significant rainfall was recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Cherat received 14mm and Upper Dir 12mm. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad recorded 7mm of rain, while Murree in Punjab saw 4mm and Islamabad 3mm. Skardu received 5mm, and Nokkundi in Balochistan recorded 1mm.
The lowest temperatures recorded were -3ยฐC in Leh, while Gupis and Parachinar reported -1ยฐC.
