US President Donald Trump stated that he has sent a letter to Iran’s leadership, expressing his desire to negotiate a nuclear deal. In an interview with Fox Business Network, aired on Friday, Trump explained, “I hope you’re going to negotiate, because it’s going to be a lot better for Iran.”
Trump emphasized the importance of the negotiations, adding, “I think they want to get that letter. The alternative is we have to take action because you can’t allow another nuclear weapon.”
The letter appears to have been addressed to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, though the White House has not yet commented on the details.
In related developments, Russia has offered to mediate between the United States and Iran in efforts to resolve the nuclear issue. According to a source briefed on the discussions, Russia is committed to doing everything it can to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the tensions surrounding Tehran’s nuclear program.
On Friday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov held talks with Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali to discuss international efforts to address the situation, as confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
