In the wake of Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani’s tragic death in a suicide attack at Darul Uloom Haqqania, the seminary has announced the succession plans for both its administrative and political leadership. Maulana Abdul Haq Sani, the son of the late Maulana Hamidul Haq, has been designated as his political successor.
Additionally, Maulana Rashidul Haq Haqqani, the son of the seminary’s founder Maulana Samiul Haq, has been appointed as the new deputy superintendent of the Akora Khattak-based institution.
Despite sustaining injuries in Friday’s attack, Maulana Abdul Haq Sani has been entrusted with continuing his father’s political legacy. The suicide blast, which occurred during Friday prayers, resulted in the deaths of at least five people, with over 20 others injured. Maulana Hamidul Haq, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-Islam-Sami (JUI-S), was among the victims.
Authorities reported that several people sustained serious injuries, and rescue teams from Rescue 1122 were quick to arrive at the scene, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah confirmed the death of Maulana Hamidul Haq and declared an emergency in hospitals across Peshawar.
