ISLAMABAD: The crescent moon marking the start of Ramadan has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, officially ushering in the holy month.
Authorities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE confirmed the sighting of the new lunar month’s crescent on Friday, with the first day of fasting set for Saturday, March 1.
The Saudi Supreme Court made the announcement following the moon sighting, confirming the commencement of Ramadan.
As is customary, Saudi Arabia was the first country to observe the moon, followed by other Arab nations, parts of the Middle East, and some regions in India.
