ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a reduction in Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices ahead of Ramadan, ARY News reported.
According to the notification issued by OGRA on Friday, the price of LPG has been reduced by Rs6.15 per kilogram, bringing the new price to Rs247.82. These revised prices will take effect from Saturday, March 1, 2025.
The cost of a standard 11.8 kg domestic LPG cylinder has been slashed by Rs72.57, now priced at Rs2924.31, down from Rs2996.88 in February 2025.
Meanwhile, the federal government has proposed to deregulate petroleum product prices, a move opposed by the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association. The association has voiced concerns that deregulation would promote the sale of smuggled Iranian oil and substandard fuel. They also highlighted the potential risks to investments made by petroleum dealers.
The proposed deregulation would allow oil marketing companies (OMCs) to sell fuel at competitive prices, with a price ceiling to ensure stability. The government is also considering allowing oil refineries to blend up to 5% ethanol in petroleum products to lower fuel costs.
The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association has urged Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik to address their concerns through consultation.
