KARACHI: Police have ramped up their operations following a violent assault on a citizen at Boat Basin, arresting five individuals, including several security guards. However, the main suspect, Shahzain Marri, remains at large after reportedly fleeing to Balochistan.
The incident, which was captured on CCTV footage, shows Marri and his guards physically assaulting a citizen. The video also reveals the suspects’ vehicle bumping into another car while reversing, after which they emerged with weapons and attacked an individual inside the other vehicle.
In response to the footage’s release, police swiftly acted and arrested individuals connected to the assault. South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Asad Raza stated that two locations were raided late at night, leading to the arrest of two security guards, Ghous Bakhsh and Jalad Khan, who were directly involved in the assault. Authorities also recovered four advanced weapons from the guards.
Further operations in the Defence Housing Authority area have resulted in more arrests, bringing the total to five. Seven weapons have been recovered from the detained individuals.
DIG Raza confirmed that Marri and his guards were directly involved in the assault and that police are coordinating with Balochistan authorities to apprehend him.
Authorities have assured the public that the remaining suspects will be captured soon.
