Uzbekistan has officially lifted its ban on Pakistani workers, allowing them to seek employment in the country. This decision follows a recommendation from the Pakistan Embassy in Tashkent, which urged the removal of restrictions to facilitate job opportunities for Pakistani citizens.
The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) has issued a circular confirming the development and has instructed all Protectorate of Emigrants Offices to begin registering workers. This move ensures that Pakistani job seekers in Uzbekistan are legally protected and can secure employment under regulated conditions.
Visa Protection Requirement
Pakistani citizens planning to work in Uzbekistan must obtain visa protection from the relevant department to safeguard their rights and employment status in the host country.
Strategic Timing of the Decision
The lifting of the ban comes ahead of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharifโs two-day visit to Uzbekistan in the last week of February, signaling growing diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
Fee Structure for Emigrants
For Direct Employment:
- Life Insurance Fee: Rs 2,500 (coverage up to Rs 1 million for five years)
- OPF Welfare Fund Fee: Rs 4,000
