ISLAMABAD: Former pacer Shoaib Akhtar has heavily criticized the Pakistan cricket team following their disappointing loss to India, stating that the national side lacks the necessary skills to compete on the biggest stage.
On a recent cricket show, Akhtar said, โWe talk about intent, but they are also missing the essential skills. If they had the skills, they wouldn’t have played in this manner.โ
He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s management and captaincy during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, describing them as โcluelessโ and โbrainless.โ
โHonestly, clueless management, brainless captaincy… an absolutely average team with no noteworthy skills displayed,โ he added.
Akhtar took a shot at the teamโs repeated failures over the years, pointing out, โItโs nothing new from the Pakistan team. Thereโs nothing to say about it… they donโt know what theyโre doing… honestly, nothing at all.โ
Earlier on Sunday, a brilliant century from Virat Kohli, combined with disciplined bowling, led India to a dominant six-wicket win over Pakistan in a crucial Champions Trophy 2025 match at Dubai International Stadium.
