A judicial magistrate (south) has granted a one-day physical remand for the son of television actor Sajid Hasan, Sahir, in connection with the Mustafa murder case. The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the police presented Sahir before the magistrate, where the investigating officer revealed that over 500 grams of drugs were found in his possession.
Sahir’s lawyer, Faraz Faheem, argued that his client had been falsely implicated, citing an ongoing dispute between Hasan and the Darakhshan Police. Faheem further pointed out that Hasan had previously filed a case against the Darakhshan Police over alleged threats.
The magistrate approved the one-day remand and ordered that Sahir be presented in court on Monday. The SIU has registered a case against him, accusing him of drug dealing in the DHA’s Street No 6, Phase 6, Khayaban-e-Rahat.
The initial information report stated that Sahir was carrying a black bag containing five packets of drugs at the time of his arrest. Along with the drugs, police also recovered a digital scale, other items, a mobile phone, and cash from his possession, totaling 557 grams of drugs.
Confession and Involvement in Drug Supply
Sahir allegedly confessed to supplying drugs over the past two years, following his arrest in the Mustafa murder case investigation. Sources within the police revealed that Sahir admitted to supplying narcotics to Armaghan, the prime suspect in the murder. The drugs found in his possession were reportedly of foreign brands, and Sahir is believed to have been involved in drug trafficking, which has raised concerns within various sectors, including business, bureaucracy, and the entertainment industry.
Details of the Mustafa Murder Case
The Mustafa murder case has been a major news story, centered around the abduction and killing of 23-year-old Mustafa Amir, a Karachi resident. Mustafa was allegedly abducted on January 6, and his case gained widespread attention when police addressed a press conference in February. His charred body was found six days later in Balochistan’s Dureji area, following the intervention of the Balochistan Police.
On February 14, police disclosed that Mustafa’s friends were involved in his murder. They allegedly stuffed his body into the trunk of his car and set it on fire in Dureji. Investigations revealed that the prime suspect, Armaghan, and his associates had demanded Rs 20 million in ransom from Mustafa’s family. A four-hour gun battle ensued during Armaghan’s arrest at a bungalow in DHA.
The motive behind the crime appeared to be linked to a personal conflict, possibly involving a woman. Mustafa’s mother also accused the woman of being responsible for her son’s death, claiming she fled to the United States after the incident.
Ongoing Investigation and Arrests
In the days following the arrest of key suspects, including Armaghan, the police extended their investigations. On February 15, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted physical remand for Shiraz, an associate of the prime suspect. Despite the arrest of the main suspect, the police were criticized for not initially seeking a physical remand for Armaghan.
Armaghan, identified as a “habitual offender” with a history of extortion, kidnapping, drug dealing, and illegal weapons possession, reportedly denied the allegations. His father, Kamran Qureshi, also appeared in public, defending his son’s actions and accusing Mustafa of selling drugs to him.
On February 17, the judicial magistrate approved the exhumation of Mustafa’s body for further investigation, leading to the formation of a medical panel. The same day, an ATC granted physical remand for Armaghan and other suspects while continuing their investigation into the case.
DNA Testing and Developments
On February 20, Armaghan allegedly confessed to killing Mustafa and provided chilling details, claiming he offered Mustafa a chance to escape before setting him on fire. Blood samples collected from the suspect’s house were linked to a woman, and money laundering allegations were also brought against Armaghan.
The case has continued to unfold, with the investigation expanding to involve several other suspects, including Sahir. DNA testing on the remains of the burned body confirmed that the victim was indeed Mustafa Amir.
As the investigation continues, authorities are focusing on a complex network of crime, including drug trafficking and possible involvement from high-profile individuals, which has caught the attention of the public and media.
