Meghan Markle is reportedly feeling angry and upset after her recent charitable efforts were met with criticism, while Kate Middleton received praise for her own charitable visit.
According to sources, the Duchess of Sussex was particularly frustrated after being labeled a “disaster tourist” following her trip to World Central Kitchen in Pasadena, California, where she and Prince Harry helped victims of the L.A. wildfires. Additionally, Meghan faced backlash for allegedly “name-dropping” after sharing a video in which she described how Maroon 5’s Adam Levine helped her find a Billie Eilish t-shirt for a fire victim.
In contrast, Kate, the Princess of Wales, received widespread admiration for her visit to the Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, with many praising her compassion and dedication.
A source revealed to Closer Magazine that the stark difference in public reactions left Meghan feeling “fuming” and “bitter.” The source also mentioned that Meghan was hurt by the criticism she received, especially after former U.S. President Donald Trump publicly insulted her, calling her “terrible.”
“Meghan has certainly noticed how millions of royal watchers seem to idolize Kate’s every move, while her own efforts get overlooked,” the source said. “The fact that Meghan was criticized for her work with wildfire relief, while Kate is almost saintly in the public eye, stings deeply.”
The source added, “It’s painful for Meghan that the criticism she faces is just as harsh in the U.S. as it is in the U.K.”
