ISLAMABAD: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 kicked off in spectacular fashion with a grand opening ceremony at the historic Diwan-e-Aam in Lahore Fort on Sunday evening.
Set against Pakistanโs rich heritage, the event blended cricketing prestige with cultural grandeur. Cricketing legends, top Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials, and passionate fans gathered for an unforgettable night.
A special panel discussion featuring iconic cricketers added to the excitement, as they shared insights and cherished memories with fans worldwide. The evening’s biggest highlight was a performance by Pakistanโs music sensation, Atif Aslam, who unveiled the official tournament anthem.
To mark the occasion, the Pakistan Air Force contributed with a breathtaking fly-past, adding to the grandeur of the event.
The Champions Trophy will bring cricket fever to Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Dubai.
The tournament officially begins on February 19, with the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand at National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi, following a brief opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, the Indian team has arrived in Dubai, where Bangladesh has already begun training. The two teams will face off on February 20. Before that, Bangladesh will take on Pakistan Shaheens in a practice match on February 17, while Afghanistan plays its second warm-up match against New Zealand in Karachi today.
However, the most highly anticipated clash remains the Pakistan vs. India showdown on February 23 in Dubai, a match that promises to be a thrilling encounter in cricketโs fiercest rivalry.
