PESHAWAR: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi visited the SOS Village in Hayatabad, Peshawar, on Saturday, reaffirming his commitment to supporting the institution that had a special connection to his late father, Umer Khan Afridi, who had been a long-time patron of the charity.
Accompanied by his wife, CJP Afridi was briefed by Director Kokab Batool Qureshi on the operations and welfare initiatives of the village. SOS Village, a charitable organization, currently cares for 121 orphans and abandoned children, ranging from infants to young adults aged up to 26 years.
The facility provides not only boarding and high-quality education up to the master’s level, but also technical training, and even helps facilitate marriages for the children under its care.
During the visit, the CJP and his wife interacted with the children, showing great interest in their education, daily activities, and extracurricular engagements. They also shared a meal with the children, offering motivational words and encouraging them to work diligently and excel in their studies.
CJP Afridi commended the management of SOS Village for their unwavering dedication, praising Ms. Qureshi for maintaining discipline, high educational standards, and the overall upkeep of the institution.
The CJP assured the children and management that he would remain available for any support or assistance they might require in the future.
