ISLAMABAD: Star batsman Babar Azam has become the fastest player to score 6,000 runs in one-day international (ODI) cricket, achieving the milestone with his 10th run in todayโs innings. He now shares the record with South Africaโs Hashim Amla, both completing the feat in 123 innings.
Babar also made history as the fastest Asian to reach 6,000 runs, surpassing Indiaโs Virat Kohli, who did so in 136 innings.
The former captain is now the 11th Pakistani batter to cross the 6,000-run mark, joining an elite list that includes Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Shoaib Malik, Javed Miandad, and others.
His achievement came during the Tri-Nation Series final against New Zealand at Karachi stadium.
