The visiting International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission in Pakistan has been holding high-level discussions with officials from various institutions, focusing on key issues such as economic reforms, anti-corruption efforts, and the prevention of financial crimes.
These talks, which will continue on Tuesday, also delve into constitutional and legal matters, including the process of judicial appointments.
During the meetings, Pakistani officials provided the IMF team with updates on steps taken to combat corruption, prevent financial crimes, and address money laundering. Special attention was given to measures to curb suspicious transactions and terrorist financing, with officials highlighting effective actions already implemented in these areas.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) also presented an overview of its ongoing digitalization initiatives, anti-smuggling efforts, and strategies to tackle tax evasion. The IMF delegation emphasized the importance of digitizing land records to improve transparency and governance.

Upcoming Meetings The IMF mission is set to continue its discussions today, with plans to meet officials from the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, the Supreme Court, and the Auditor General of Pakistan. The delegation is also expected to receive briefings on the judicial appointment process and the constitutional and legal frameworks in place.
