The Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall in several areas of Punjab, including Lahore, starting January 31 as a new rain-bearing system moves into the country.
The system is expected to bring light showers and a drop in temperatures, providing relief from the recent spell of hot and dry weather.
According to the Met Office, Punjab has experienced unseasonably warm temperatures in recent days due to persistent dry conditions. However, with the arrival of the new system, light rain is expected in upper Punjab, including Lahore, in the coming days.
Experts have raised concerns that climate change may be shortening Pakistanโs winter season, leading to unpredictable weather patterns.
Karachi to Experience Warmer Days
Meanwhile, Karachi is expected to see a slight rise in temperatures starting January 31, according to Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz.
“The intensity of the cold will decrease by one to two degrees Celsius, marking the beginning of warmer days,” Sarfaraz stated.
He ruled out the possibility of a new cold wave, adding that winter will fully subside by the first week of February. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach 29โ30ยฐC, though cool nights may persist for a short period.
Additionally, the chief meteorologist confirmed that there is no likelihood of rain in Karachi or other parts of Sindh during the first week of February.
