Pakistani spinner Noman Ali created history by becoming the first spinner from Pakistan to achieve a hat-trick in Test cricket during the second Test against the West Indies at Multan Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Noman’s impressive bowling dismantled the West Indies batting order, giving Pakistan a strong advantage in the home series. He completed his remarkable hat-trick in the 12th over of the innings after the visitors opted to bat on a pitch favoring spin bowlers.
The left-arm spinner started his milestone over by dismissing Justin Greaves with the first ball, bringing Tevin Imlach to the crease. Imlach was trapped LBW on the very next delivery, departing without scoring. Noman then bowled Kevin Sinclair, completing his historic feat and securing his place in Test cricket history as Pakistan’s first spinner to achieve a hat-trick.
The West Indies, struggling on a spin-friendly pitch, faced a difficult situation after choosing to bat first. Noman struck early in the second over of the innings, taking the first wicket. By the 12th over, his hat-trick had further destabilized the visitors.
Other bowlers also contributed to Pakistan’s dominance. Left-arm spinner Sajid Khan took two wickets, while debutants Kashif Ali and Abrar Ahmed each claimed one. The West Indies ended the session in deep trouble, reduced to 54 for eight.
Noman’s extraordinary performance highlighted the prowess of Pakistan’s spin attack and provided the home team with a strong foundation in the second Test of the series.
