A catastrophic explosion at an ordnance factory near Nagpur, Maharashtra, has resulted in the deaths of eight workers and left seven others injured. The blast, which occurred in the Bhandara district, was so powerful that it could be heard from up to 5 kilometers away.
The explosion took place around 10:30 AM in the LTP section of the factory, causing the roof to collapse and trapping several workers under the debris. Emergency response teams, including firefighters and medical personnel, were quickly dispatched to the scene. Initial rescue efforts led to the retrieval of three survivors, but one worker was confirmed dead. An excavator was brought in to help clear the rubble and search for additional victims.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed the fatalities during a public event, while Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that top officials and rescue teams from Nagpur were en route to provide further assistance. Thick smoke continued to billow from the factory as authorities worked to manage the aftermath of the devastating explosion.
