DOHA: Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, Amir (leader) of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), met Hamas leader Hasan Darwish in Doha, Qatar.
During their meeting, Hafiz Naeem praised the resilience and strong resistance of the people of Gaza and Hamas, acknowledging their ongoing struggle. He also stated that the ceasefire agreement marked a victory for Hamas, as Israel had failed to meet its military objectives.
Hafiz Naeem emphasized that the people of Pakistan were committed to contributing to the reconstruction of Gaza, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people. He conveyed that the Jamaat-e-Islami delegation was in Doha to demonstrate support on behalf of Pakistan’s citizens.
In response, Hamas leader Hasan Darwish thanked the Pakistani people and Jamaat-e-Islami for their unwavering support, recognizing Pakistan’s leadership in addressing the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah. He also expressed hope for continued cooperation from Pakistan in rebuilding Gaza.
Earlier, Hafiz Naeem called on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to publicly declare his non-recognition of Israel. Speaking at the Solidarity with Palestine Million March on Jinnah Avenue in Islamabad, Hafiz Naeem criticized the political system, noting that governments, regardless of who holds power, often seek support from the United States. He also highlighted the tendency for those in power or seeking release from imprisonment to align with U.S. approval.
The JI leader urged Imran Khan to show solidarity with Hamas by publicly denouncing the state of Israel. He further pointed out the disparity between the U.S. holding thousands of missiles while imposing sanctions on Pakistan’s missile technology.
