Customs officials intercepted a smuggling attempt involving 78 high-value mobile phones, including 54 iPhone 16 Pro models, recovered from the crew of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on a Dubai-Multan flight.
The seized phones were found in the possession of five crew members: senior steward Faisal Pervaiz, air hostesses Nishat and Sadaf, and flight stewards Imran and Khalid Khan. Acting on a tip-off, Customs authorities stopped the crew upon arrival and discovered 24 iPhones with the two air hostesses.
Further investigation led to the identification of additional phones, and 54 more iPhones were recovered from the male crew members after they were called back from their hotel. The seized phones, valued at millions of rupees, were confiscated by Customs.
The crew members’ statements were recorded during the inquiry. Although the phones were seized, the individuals were allowed to return home after the investigation.
