Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI chairman Imran Khan, was granted interim bail in 13 cases related to the D-Chowk protest on November 26 by the Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). Judge Tahir Abbas Supra approved the bail against surety bonds of Rs. 5,000 each and ordered the police to present all relevant records by February 7.
In addition to the D-Chowk protest cases, Bushra Bibi was also granted interim bail in a case involving a Rangers’ accident, with the same deadline of February 7. During the hearing, Judge Supra expressed frustration over the defense team’s conduct. He criticized the lawyers for requesting VIP protocol and for failing to properly prepare their files. “You demand VIP protocol everywhere, but this is not possible. Prepare your files properly before coming to court,” the judge remarked.
Bushra Bibi is facing multiple charges across various police stations, including three cases at the Secretariat Police Station, two cases each at Margalla, Karachi Company, and Ramna Police Stations, and one case each at Tarnol, Kohsar, Aabpara, and Khanna Police Stations.
The judge also reprimanded the defense team for asking Bushra Bibi to sign and thumbprint blank papers, instructing that, “The accused must sign and thumbprint the court orders, not blank sheets.”
In a separate matter, Bushra Bibi visited the Islamabad High Court for biometric verification in connection with her acquittal request in the Toshakhana-II case. The acquittal applications for both her and Imran Khan were filed on Monday. Bushra Bibi completed the biometric process and left immediately after.
The next hearing in these cases is scheduled for February 7.
