KP CM Gandapur
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur recently clarified that the announcement of the civil disobedience movement was initiated by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, not him.
Addressing the media in Peshawar, Gandapur stated, “There is no clarity on this matter yet. We will act on civil disobedience once clarity emerges.”
Highlighting the party’s demands, Gandapur emphasized the importance of the founder’s release, restoration of PTI’s mandate, and reversal of unconstitutional amendments as key priorities.
He underlined that the decision to proceed with the civil disobedience movement rests entirely with Imran Khan, reiterating that any action announced by him will be fully supported and implemented.
Discussing regional challenges, Gandapur criticized the federal government for its hesitation in initiating negotiations with Afghanistan. He remarked, “If the federal government shows reluctance, I will engage at my level to resolve matters with Afghanistan.”
The Chief Minister highlighted that these negotiations are crucial for maintaining stability in the region and addressing cross-border concerns.
On the security front, Gandapur asserted that the KP government is actively working to enhance safety measures across the province. He expressed pride in KP’s performance, stating that it surpasses other provinces in several areas.
He also noted that even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has acknowledged the KP government’s efforts, further validating their commitment to effective governance. Gandapur reaffirmed the province’s dedication to combating terrorism, paying tribute to the sacrifices made in this fight.
Meanwhile, Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza shared additional details about the proposed civil disobedience movement.
Speaking during the program Sawaal Ye Hai, Raza revealed that the strategy for this movement has already been devised and expressed confidence that it will be more successful than the 2014 initiative.
Raza also disclosed that discussions on the movement had taken place during his meeting with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail. He claimed awareness of the proposal even before its public announcement on X, indicating a well-coordinated effort by PTI leadership.
The situation underscores the ongoing political uncertainty and the challenges facing the federal and provincial governments as PTI pushes forward with its agenda.
