Pakistani cricket star Babar Azam has made history by becoming the fastest player ever to reach 11,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this remarkable feat during his 31-run performance in the second T20I against South Africa at SuperSport Park in Centurion, surpassing the previous record held by West Indies legend Chris Gayle.
Gayle had reached the 11,000-run milestone in 314 innings, while Babar accomplished it in just 299 innings, making him the only player to achieve this in under 300 innings.
At just 30 years old, Babar’s T20 career includes 11 centuries and 90 half-centuries, cementing his status as one of the game’s premier batsmen. In addition to this record-breaking achievement, Babar joined an exclusive group of cricketers as the 11th player to surpass 11,000 T20 runs, and only the second Pakistani after Shoaib Malik, who has accumulated 13,415 runs.
Furthermore, during his innings against South Africa, Babar also surpassed 14,000 runs in international cricket, becoming the fifth Pakistani player to reach this significant milestone. This accomplishment solidifies Babar’s place among Pakistan’s cricketing elite.
