Pakistan’s Car Sales Jump 50% in FY25 Despite November Decline

The automobile sector in Pakistan has recorded a substantial 50% growth in car sales during the first five months of the ongoing fiscal year (FY25), with total units sold reaching 38,534, a significant rise from 25,746 units during the same period last year.

However, November witnessed a sharp decline of 25.08% in sales, dropping to 7,909 units from 10,557 in October, according to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). The report highlights that November’s car sales stood at 4,875 units.

Despite the monthly drop, sales of jeeps, vans, and pickups showed robust demand, totaling 12,259 units over five months—a 55% increase compared to last year. November saw a slight dip in this segment as well.

Electric vehicles (EVs) made an entry into PAMA’s statistics, with Dewan’s Horni Ve EV producing 70 units and selling 63, marking an encouraging start.

Leading the growth, Pak Suzuki Motor Company reported a 41% increase in sales, totaling 25,812 units during July-November. Indus Motor Company (IMC) posted a 67% rise, selling 10,886 units, while Honda Atlas Cars Ltd achieved a 50% increase, with 5,974 units sold. Sazgar Engineering experienced remarkable growth, with sales surging by 233% to 4,191 units. Conversely, Hyundai Nishat faced a minor decline of 1%, selling 3,324 units.

Sales of two- and three-wheelers also rose by 26%, reaching 578,364 units compared to 459,459 in the previous year.

In the agricultural sector, tractor sales saw a 2% year-on-year drop in November, with 3,428 units sold. However, month-on-month sales surged by 98%. Over the July-November period, tractor sales dropped by 50%, reaching 10,367 units, largely due to regulatory changes.

The commercial vehicle segment displayed positive growth, with truck and bus sales climbing to 1,605 units in July-November FY25, a significant improvement from 857 units during the same period last year.
