Mehwish Anwar Makes History as PIA’s First Female Flying Spanner Engineer

Mehwish Anwar has made history by becoming the first female flying spanner engineer at Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

The national flag carrier announced her achievement after she successfully completed the coverage of her inaugural flight. Mehwish’s “groundbreaking flight” from Islamabad to Sukkur marked a significant milestone for PIA, as she ensured the smooth operation of engineering functions throughout the journey.

A PIA spokesperson praised Mehwish’s dedication and consistency, calling her an inspiration and a symbol of progress for women in aviation.

Mehwish began her engineering career in 2013 and received her flying spanner engineer certification in 2023.
