ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Sumair Ahmad Syed, PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, as the Tournament Director for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to be hosted in Pakistan.
PCB Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi stated, “Sumair is an exceptionally organized professional with extensive administrative expertise and an unwavering passion for cricket. I am confident he will deliver a remarkable ICC Champions Trophy 2025 for players, officials, and fans alike.”
He added, “This tournament is a historic milestone, showcasing Pakistanโs ability to host world-class cricketing events. It will bring players and fans from around the world to experience our countryโs rich passion for cricket and renowned hospitality. Under Sumairโs leadership, the event will meet the highest standards of excellence synonymous with Pakistan.โ
Tournament Director Sumair Ahmad Syed shared his excitement, saying, “It is a tremendous honor to take on this responsibility for an event of such significance to the PCB, our fans, and the cricketing community. Preparations are underway, with stadium upgrades nearing completion and critical discussions progressing with the International Cricket Council.”
He emphasized the role of PCB’s experienced events team, noting, “Having successfully managed nine multi-team HBL Pakistan Super Leagues, including the last five held in Pakistan, this team will be instrumental in ensuring the tournamentโs success. I am committed to collaborating with them and the ICC to surpass the benchmarks set by previous editions of the Champions Trophy.”
