Five Killed in Fog-Related Accident Near Gharo

Thatta: The death toll from a tragic fog-related accident on the National Highway near Gharo has risen to five after two more critically injured victims succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

The accident, which occurred early Sunday morning, involved a pile-up of six vehicles due to heavy fog and poor visibility. Initial reports indicated that three people were killed on the spot, and at least 14 others were injured.

“Two more of the critically injured have died in the hospital, bringing the death toll to five,” confirmed hospital officials. The deceased have been identified as Shoaib, Rehman, Nadeem, Moin, and Gul Zaman.

In addition to the five fatalities, four of the remaining injured, out of the 12 total, are in critical condition and have been transferred to Karachi for specialized medical care.

Earlier in the day, two separate fog-related accidents also claimed lives on the National Highway and in Darya Khan, Punjab. In Gharo, the six-vehicle crash resulted in three deaths, while another incident at M.M. Road near Darya Khan involved a passenger bus colliding with a parked trailer. This crash killed two and injured six others. The bus, traveling from Uch Sharif to Rawalpindi, was caught in the dense fog that reduced visibility.

Rescue operations in both incidents involved shifting the bodies and injured to local hospitals for treatment. The authorities have urged caution as dense fog continues to cause hazardous driving conditions in the region.
