LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced the introduction of minority cards aimed at supporting deserving families across the province.

Speaking at a ceremony celebrating the Hindu festival of Diwali in Lahore, she expressed her deep respect for minority communities, calling them “the crown of her head.” Maryam emphasized her commitment to their welfare and announced that the Punjab government will launch the minority card initiative on December 20.

In her address, CM Maryam extended her warm wishes to the Hindu community for Diwali and revealed a financial gift of Rs 150,000 for each of the 1,400 families benefiting from the new program.

Earlier in the week, Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the ‘Kisan Card Programme’ in Hafizabad, designed to provide essential financial assistance to small farmers.

Under this scheme, farmers can access loans of up to Rs 150,000 per crop season to purchase seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides using their Kisan Cards.

During the launch event, she announced an increase in the initiative’s budget, raising the number of Kisan Cards available from 500,000 to 750,000.

Applicants can register by sending their ID card numbers to 8070 from their registered mobile numbers. Additionally, CM Maryam announced the provision of free laser levelers to farmers cultivating between 12.5 and 25 acres of land.

For those with over 25 acres, free tractors will be provided. She also stated that agricultural equipment would be rented out to farmers at no profit, further supporting the agricultural community in Punjab.
