The Israeli army reported that four soldiers were killed in combat in southern Lebanon. A senior Hamas official, speaking to AFP, stated that the group has communicated with Egyptian officials, expressing its readiness to halt fighting in Gaza if Israel commits to a ceasefire.
The official noted that a Hamas delegation discussed potential terms for a truce with Egyptian officials in Cairo, indicating that Hamas is prepared to stop hostilities provided that Israel agrees to withdraw from Gaza, allow the return of displaced individuals, facilitate a serious prisoner exchange, and permit humanitarian aid to enter the region.
As for the situation in Lebanon, the Israeli army confirmed that the four soldiers lost their lives during combat on Wednesday, bringing the total number of Israeli military casualties in southern Lebanon to 26 since the onset of a ground operation in late September. The conflict in Lebanon escalated last month, following a series of cross-border clashes that began nearly a year ago. Hezbollah initiated rocket fire into Israel on October 8, 2023, in solidarity with Hamas following its unprecedented attack on Israel.
