TikTok, in partnership with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), has launched a Digital Safety Competition aimed at promoting awareness of digital safety among young people. This initiative invites creators to produce short and impactful videos across six categories, each focusing on a specific aspect of digital safety.
The categories include responsible social media usage, combating online harassment, preventing online fraud, ensuring the safety and well-being of youth, understanding TikTok’s safety tools, and addressing misinformation on social media.
Through this competition, TikTok and the PTA hope to encourage users to verify information before sharing and to promote messages of digital safety.
By participating, users will contribute to raising awareness about responsible online behavior and help create a safer digital environment for everyone. This collaboration highlights a mutual commitment to enhancing digital literacy and safety in Pakistan.
Earlier this week, TikTok hosted its inaugural creators’ event in Pakistan, called the TikTok Experience. This one-day event took place in Islamabad and brought together content creators and publishers for panel discussions, interactive workshops, and activities designed to inspire and empower the local TikTok community.
In a related effort to ensure a safer online space, TikTok has removed over 30.7 million videos from its platform in Pakistan during 2024 as part of its content moderation strategy.
According to its second-quarter Community Enforcement Report, 99.5% of these videos were removed before users could report them, with 97% taken down within 24 hours of being uploaded.
Globally, TikTok deleted more than 178 million videos in the same period, with 144 million removed through automated systems, further underscoring its commitment to content safety and community standards.
