Five PTI Leaders Given Approval to Visit Imran Khan in Adiala Jail

On Saturday, five leaders from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) received official permission to meet former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, following a brief standoff with authorities.

Initially, the government had approved only three leaders—Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, and Senator Ali Zafar—prompting PTI leadership to refuse the visit unless all five were granted access. This insistence on inclusion highlighted the party’s unified stance.

Sheikh Waqas Akram, a PTI spokesperson, confirmed the approval via a post on the social media platform X. “We are now on our way to Adiala Jail for the meeting,” he stated, noting that the party’s insistence had paid off. “The barrister’s obstinacy has worked,” he added, underscoring their collective effort.

Earlier in the day, Barrister Gohar, waiting in his office, communicated to Kamran Murtaza, a PTI official, that they would not proceed if Secretary General Salman Akram Raja and Hamid Raza were excluded.

Tensions escalated when Adiala Jail authorities initially barred Salman Akram Raja from meeting Khan. However, the eventual approval for all five leaders has now allowed the visit to take place.
