FIA Launches Investigation into Suicide Cases at Lahore’s Leading Educational Institutions

FIA Launches Investigations into Harassment and Suicide Cases at Lahore Educational Institutions. In response to rising concerns about the safety of female students, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has formed three specialized teams to investigate troubling incidents of harassment, alleged abuse, and the recent suicide of female students at several prominent educational institutions in Lahore.

These incidents, reported at Punjab Group of Colleges, Lahore College for Women University, and Punjab University, have sparked protests across the province, prompting public calls for accountability.

The FIA Director General initiated the formation of these teams amid growing public pressure and widespread student demonstrations demanding justice.

The investigations are focused on ensuring the safety of female students and delivering justice for the victims. Among the most distressing incidents was the suicide of a female student at the Punjab University hostel, while another student at Lahore College for Women University reported harassment. Additionally, an alleged rape case involving a student at the Punjab Group of Colleges has fueled widespread outrage and protests.

In an official statement, the FIA announced that the investigation teams are tasked with identifying and apprehending those responsible, coordinating efforts with the Cyber Crimes Zonal Office. Ayesha Agha Khan, the Additional Director of FIA, will oversee the operation to ensure swift action.

The investigations will be divided among three specialized teams: a seven-member team led by Deputy Director of Immigration Muhammad Sulaiman Liaquat will handle the Punjab Group of Colleges case; a six-member team, headed by Kashif Mustafa, Deputy Director of the Corporate Crime Circle, will investigate the incident at Punjab University; and a four-member team led by Malik Sikandar Hayat, Deputy Director of the Commercial Bank Circle, will look into the harassment case at Lahore College for Women University.

The FIA has committed to thoroughly investigating each case and holding those responsible accountable, as public concern over student safety continues to escalate.
