Indian journalist Barkha Dutt meets Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz

Indian journalist Barkha Dutt recently met with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore.

This visit, reported by Express News, coincides with Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

Dutt’s discussions with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) leadership come as international media representatives arrive in Pakistan to cover the high-profile event. Pakistan is set to host the 23rd Council of Heads of Government meeting of the SCO in Islamabad on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The summit will see participation from prime ministers and senior officials of SCO member countries, including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Iran’s First Vice President.

India’s External Affairs Minister and China’s Premier Li Qiang are also expected to attend.

Media reports indicate that delegations from various nations have already arrived in Islamabad. This includes a four-member team from India, 76 representatives from Russia, 15 officials from China, a two-member delegation from Iran, and four officials from Kyrgyzstan.

Previously, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar dismissed the possibility of bilateral talks during the SCO summit. In a recent event, he mentioned that while media attention is likely due to the complex nature of relations, the summit will primarily be a multilateral gathering.
