On Monday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a show-cause notice to batter Fakhar Zaman following his statement in support of Babar Azam.
The PCB has requested Zaman’s response by October 22 regarding his social media post. They noted that Zaman is a centrally contracted player.
In his earlier post, Zaman expressed concern over suggestions to drop Babar Azam, stating, “It’s worrying to hear talks of sidelining Babar. India didn’t bench Virat Kohli during his tough phases from 2020 to 2023, despite his average of 19.33, 28.21, and 26.50.”
He added, “If we consider sidelining our top batsman, who is arguably the best Pakistan has ever had, it could send a negative message throughout the team. There’s still time to avoid panic; we should focus on protecting our key players instead of undermining them.”
