JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has denounced the violence against jirga participants in Wana and Khyber, emphasizing that such actions will not advance any movement.
In a statement, he urged the state to heed the concerns of the tribes, cautioning that violence and gunfire will only escalate tensions. He condemned the attacks in Wana and Khyber as unacceptable and called on the government to refrain from further aggravating the situation.
Rehman stressed that true progress comes through dialogue and negotiation, not violence. He highlighted that jirgas, protests, and sit-ins are essential components of democracy, questioning the government’s undue fears surrounding them.
Additionally, he expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and called for prompt medical aid for the injured, offering prayers for their swift recovery.
