LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) reported the killing of seven Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists in an intelligence-based operation near Makarwal, Mianwali.
Details indicate that while seven terrorists affiliated with the banned group were neutralized, eight others managed to escape, as stated by a CTD spokesperson. The operation resulted in the recovery of six hand grenades, safety fuse wires, seven Kalashnikov rifles, ammunition, and explosive materials from the site.
A search operation is currently underway to capture the fleeing terrorists, with checkpoints established near Makarwal. The identification of the deceased terrorists is ongoing.
The CTD has noted that the terrorists were planning a significant attack in Mianwali. Previously, on September 7, security forces successfully thwarted an assault on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Mohmand district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR revealed that the attack was attempted by four suicide bombers linked to the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij. The security forces effectively prevented their entry into the camp, resulting in the elimination of all four bombers before they could inflict damage. A sanitization operation is being conducted to locate any remaining terrorists in the area.
