Centre Forms Committee to Probe KP Government’s Resource Allocation for PTI Protests

The federal government has established a three-member committee to investigate the use of resources and personnel by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in support of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests. Headed by Riffat Mukhtar, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, the committee includes Munir Masood Marth, the Additional Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and an officer from the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

This decision comes in response to concerns about the allocation of public resources for political demonstrations. According to a notification from the Ministry of Interior, the committee is tasked with examining the involvement of government resources and personnel during PTI rallies. It is expected to submit its report within seven days, identifying the planners and officials responsible for the allocation.

The committee will specifically investigate several key questions: How many government vehicles and personnel were used in the PTI rally? Who authorized the use of KP’s governmental resources? Which officials permitted this allocation for the protest? Alongside the committee’s formation, the Ministry has provided operational guidelines for the inquiry.
