Police used tear gas to disperse protesters gathered outside Aiwan-e-Adl in Lahore, leading to the arrest of six lawyers affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during a demonstration at GPO Chowk on Saturday.
The protest was part of a larger PTI campaign to express their grievances against the government. Tensions escalated when police began shelling tear gas into the crowd outside Aiwan-e-Adl, where numerous PTI workers and lawyers had assembled.
The arrested lawyers were taken into custody following a brief standoff with law enforcement, while protesters shouted slogans in response to the police action.
PTI senior leader Salman Akram Raja was present at the scene but managed to leave GPO Chowk in a car just before the police crackdown intensified.
The protest drew a heavy police presence as authorities sought to maintain order, resulting in clashes between protesters and law enforcement. The atmosphere remains tense, with PTI supporters continuing to demonstrate across various parts of Lahore, while additional police forces have arrived outside Aiwan-e-Adl.
