Federal Government Initiates Downsizing of Daily Wage Employees Under New Policy

Federal Government Begins Downsizing Daily Wage Employees Under New Policy. The federal government has initiated the process of releasing daily wage employees as part of its rightsizing policy aimed at streamlining operations and reducing workforce numbers across ministries.

A notification from the Establishment Division indicates that, effective September 30, 2024, the services of daily wage workers will be moved to a surplus pool, marking the start of a broader downsizing effort.

All daily wage employees have been informed that their services will no longer be needed following this date. The notification also notes that other ministries and divisions will issue similar communications to release their daily wage staff in alignment with the rightsizing directive.

Sources within the Ministry of Finance have confirmed that additional departments will implement these measures, ensuring a consistent approach to the rightsizing plan across the federal government.

This decision aims to reduce costs and enhance efficiency, although it is expected to significantly affect a large number of daily wage workers in various sectors.
