SHIKARPUR: Bandits in the Kacha area kidnapped eight individuals by luring them with a false marriage proposal, local police reported on Wednesday.
Authorities stated that four of the kidnapped individuals are women. The bandits had invited the victims to the Katcha area under the pretense of meeting a prospective bride. Once the victims arrived in Napur Kot, they were abducted.
The hostages are residents of Micro Colony in Sukkur. Recently, during a joint operation by Sindh Rangers and police against bandits in the riverine Kacha area, one officer was killed and two others were injured. In that operation, a notorious bandit was killed, and two others were apprehended in an injured state.
According to a Rangers spokesperson, six additional suspects were also detained. The deceased outlaw was identified as the brother of the infamous bandit Malguzar Bhulkani, who had a bounty on his head.
Earlier, on August 23, 12 policemen were martyred, and seven others were injured when dacoits attacked two police vehicles in Rahim Yar Khan’s Katcha area. The assailants launched a rocket attack on the vehicles, which were stuck in rainwater, with approximately 20 officers present at the time.
