Alia Bhatt Speaks Candidly About Her Disorder and Event Preparation Hurdles

Alia Bhatt

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt recently revealed that she has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a neurodevelopmental condition that significantly impacts her ability to focus for extended periods.

In an open and candid interview with a media outlet, Alia spoke about how her ADHD affects various aspects of her professional and personal life, especially when it comes to event preparations.

Alia shared that her ADHD prevents her from concentrating on any one task for too long, particularly during makeup sessions, which she finds challenging. She explained that she struggles to spend more than 45 minutes in a makeup chair, a limitation that has influenced her approach to public appearances.

Alia prefers simple, quick makeup looks, ensuring that her preparations are kept short to accommodate her inability to sit still for long periods. This, she added, often pushes those around her to work at a faster pace to keep up with her time constraints.

She recalled her own wedding day as an example of how ADHD affects her routine. While most brides spend hours in preparation, her makeup artist initially requested two hours to perfect her look.

However, Alia quickly declined, telling the artist, “I can’t give you even an hour; I want simple makeup.” Her decision to keep things minimal was a direct result of her ADHD, which makes extended focus nearly impossible.

Alia’s candidness about her condition offers valuable insight into the challenges faced by individuals with ADHD. The disorder is characterized by difficulties in maintaining attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, making it hard for those affected to focus on specific tasks or stay still for long.

Common symptoms include distractibility, forgetfulness, restlessness, and interrupting others during conversations.

ADHD is typically classified into three types: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, and combined.

The term Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) was once used to describe individuals with attention difficulties but without hyperactivity. However, this term is now considered outdated and has been replaced by the predominantly inattentive form of ADHD.

Alia Bhatt’s openness about her struggles with ADHD not only sheds light on her unique way of managing her professional life but also helps to raise awareness about the condition.

By sharing her experiences, she hopes to offer encouragement to others facing similar challenges and show that ADHD, while difficult, can be managed with the right strategies and understanding.
