Three retired Boeing 777 aircraft from Saudi Arabian Airlines have recently captured widespread attention as they made their remarkable journey by road from Jeddah to Riyadh.
This unique transport, covering approximately 1,000 kilometers, has become a viral sensation on social media, with many onlookers sharing captivating visuals of the planes traversing the deserts and mountains, according to Al Arabiya.
The aircraft, which are now en route to be showcased at the Riyadh Season 2024 Boulevard Runway zone, were transported on large trucks after their wings, fuselages, and other components were removed.
The sight of these iconic planes being transported has drawn crowds and sparked excitement across the nation. Social media posts have flooded in, featuring Saudis in traditional attire waving the national flag alongside the aircraft.
Families flocked to watch the spectacle, with children donning green shirts and caps, enthusiastically waving toy planes. To encourage public engagement, Turki al Sheikh, head of the General Entertainment Authority, announced a photo competition for the best snapshot of the aircraft during their journey.
Winners will be rewarded with luxury cars, further adding to the excitement surrounding the event.
As the challenge gains traction, Al Sheikh has actively shared participants’ photos, amplifying the buzz.
Upon arrival, the three aircraft will be transformed into shops and restaurants, alongside nearly 13 interactive events designed to offer unique aviation experiences for visitors of all ages.
