Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s remand has been extended in the second Toshakhana case

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s remand has been extended until September 16 in connection with the new Toshakhana case. The Islamabad Accountability Court, presided over by Judge Nasir Javed, granted this extension on Monday after reviewing arguments from both the defense and prosecution.

The case involves allegations of misuse of the Toshakhana, a state repository for gifts received by government officials. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accused the couple of purchasing and later selling a jewelry set worth Rs75 million.

During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor requested access to judicial records from a previous Toshakhana reference, but the court rejected this plea. Additionally, a hearing for the bail applications of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi has been scheduled for September 6.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were detained by NAB in July under this new reference, which has garnered considerable public and media attention. The case highlights the ongoing legal troubles facing the former prime minister and his wife.
