Punjab launches initiative to inspect fuel quality at petrol stations

The Punjab provincial government has launched a major operation to ensure the quality of fuel sold at petrol stations across the province.

This initiative, mandated under the Punjab Environmental Protection Act, aims to conduct regular monthly inspections of all fuel stations to confirm that their fuel meets the required standards.

The operation, which involves collaboration between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and oil marketing companies, will utilize advanced fuel quality laboratories to perform chemical analyses on samples collected from various petrol pumps.

These inspections are designed to detect and address any discrepancies or substandard fuel products, ensuring compliance with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) standards.

This comprehensive initiative underscores the government’s commitment to environmental conservation and consumer protection, aiming to maintain the integrity of fuel sold in Punjab.

By curbing the sale of adulterated or substandard fuel, the operation seeks to protect vehicles and the environment from potential harm.

In related news, effective September 1, the federal government has announced a reduction in petroleum product prices. This move provides some relief amid rising living costs.

The price of petrol has been reduced by Rs1.86 per litre, bringing it to Rs259.10 per litre. High-speed diesel has seen a reduction of Rs3.32 per litre, now priced at Rs262.75 per litre.
