ISLAMABAD: In a recent administrative overhaul, the government has promoted over 60 bureaucrats from Grade 18 to Grade 19, according to a notification issued today.

This significant reshuffle highlights the government’s ongoing efforts to reassign and elevate key officials within various departments.

Among the notable promotions, Shireen Malik from the Office Management Group (OMGIBS-18) has been elevated to Grade 19 and appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Energy. This promotion reflects Malik’s increased responsibilities and pivotal role in the energy sector.

Another prominent promotion involves Naqvi, who has been advanced to Grade 19 and given the position of Deputy Secretary in the Aviation Division.

This move is expected to enhance the management and oversight of aviation-related affairs, crucial for the sector’s development and regulation.

Similarly, Muhammad Naeem has been promoted to Grade 19 and assigned the role of Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Defense.

This appointment is significant for strengthening the administrative framework of the defense ministry, ensuring efficient management and operations.

Earlier this year, in March, the Establishment Division had already announced several high-profile promotions for senior officials following the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Among these changes, Aizaz Aslam, a 22-grade officer, was appointed as the Secretary of Climate Change.

This position is crucial for overseeing and implementing policies related to climate change, an area of growing importance.

Ali Tahir, a Grade 21 officer previously serving as Special Secretary in the Establishment Division, has been promoted to Additional Secretary Incharge of Science and Technology.

This role will involve overseeing advancements and initiatives within the science and technology sector, a key area for national development.

Additionally, Secretary of Science and Technology Ali Raza Bhutta has been instructed to report to the Establishment Division, indicating a reorganization of roles and responsibilities within the department.

The Establishment Division has issued separate notifications for these promotions and appointments, reflecting the government’s strategic approach to reshuffling and enhancing the efficiency of its bureaucratic apparatus.

This administrative reshuffle aims to better align the expertise of these officials with the needs and priorities of various government departments, ensuring more effective governance and implementation of policies.
