Political Stability at Risk Due to Rigged Elections, Says Shahid Khaqan

Political Stability

On Sunday, Awaam Pakistan Party (APP) Convener Shahid Khaqan Abbasi raised serious concerns about the current political climate in Pakistan, stating that achieving political stability is unattainable in a country plagued by manipulated elections.

Speaking at an event in Karachi, Abbasi underscored the critical importance of adhering to the Constitution as the only viable route to resolving the nation’s issues.

Abbasi took aim at political parties for their failure to implement the promises outlined in their manifestos, which he claimed are often disregarded once elections are over.

He expressed frustration with the repetitive nature of political promises, noting, “Every party has the same manifesto, but there is no real implementation.”

This observation reflects growing public disillusionment with the political process and its outcomes.

The former Prime Minister highlighted the pervasive anxiety among Pakistanis regarding the future of their country, emphasizing that people everywhere are asking about potential solutions to the nation’s problems.

He stressed that the fundamental responsibility of any government is to serve its citizens by ensuring access to essential services such as electricity, water, and healthcare.

Abbasi pointed out that the key to addressing Pakistan’s pressing issues lies in respecting and following the Constitution.

In his critique, Abbasi lamented the widespread disregard for constitutional principles, which he believes is a primary reason for the country’s stagnation.

He warned that without reforms and a commitment to constitutional norms, the nation’s problems would only worsen. “Countries that break the Constitution do not develop. We need to work diligently to address these problems,” he said.

Abbasi also addressed Pakistan’s economic challenges, drawing a comparison between the current state of the economy and its condition a decade ago.

He criticized the leadership for being more focused on personal interests rather than addressing economic issues.

Additionally, he highlighted the lack of official support for national heroes, citing the absence of government ministers during athlete Arshad Nadeem’s departure for an international event as a sign of the government’s neglect.

Ultimately, Abbasi reiterated that the solution to Pakistan’s problems lies within the framework of the Constitution.

He emphasized that any deviation from constitutional principles would only exacerbate the country’s crises and hinder progress.
