FIA Identifies Culprits in Azma Bukhari Fake Video Scandal

The investigation into the fake video involving Punjab’s Information Minister Azma Bukhari has advanced significantly, with the government now identifying the suspects. Arrests are anticipated to occur shortly.

According to sources from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been established to manage the case. This team, led by Assistant Director Rana Shawaz, has made considerable progress in tracing the culprits behind the video. Their efforts have successfully identified those responsible for creating and disseminating the misleading content.

In addition to this, the FIA’s cybercrime wing has summoned Falak Javed, a known activist of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for questioning regarding his potential involvement in the case. Notices were posted at Javed’s residence, but he has not yet responded or appeared for questioning.

The FIA has also engaged with NADRA to aid in identifying the social media accounts connected to the video. The investigation revealed that some of the content was uploaded from accounts operated by overseas Pakistanis. This international aspect adds a layer of complexity to the case, as the FIA works to track down those responsible for spreading the fake video across different platforms.

The case highlights the growing issue of misinformation and the challenge of tracing the origins of such content. As the investigation progresses, further developments are expected, including the apprehension of suspects and potential legal actions. The involvement of international accounts underscores the need for a coordinated effort to address digital misinformation and hold those responsible accountable.
