Free Visas
Starting August 14, Pakistan will offer free visas to Chinese citizens, underscoring Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening ties with Beijing.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced this development during a meeting with a high-level Chinese delegation led by Minister Wang Fukang on Thursday.
Prime Minister Sharif made this statement as he welcomed the 12-member delegation, emphasizing the deep-rooted and enduring friendship between China and Pakistan.
He recounted his recent visit to China, where he requested President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Qiang to send experts to Pakistan.
This initiative aims to model Pakistan’s economy after China’s, and the arrival of these experts is expected to bring about significant progress.
Sharif highlighted that the bilateral cooperation, especially in industrial sectors, is vital at this juncture. He expressed optimism that the delegation’s visit would be beneficial and productive for Pakistan.
The prime minister emphasized that the collaboration between the two nations could create mutually advantageous opportunities, particularly in areas like industry, agriculture, and economic zones.
He hopes this cooperation will bolster Pakistan’s ability to meet the demand for agricultural products in China and explore potential in mining, minerals, IT, and export zones.
Describing Sino-Pakistani relations as “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the oceans,” Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its alliance with China despite pressures from some Western nations to reconsider.
He stressed that the relationship with China is crucial for Pakistan’s national interests and has been pivotal in times of need.
China has consistently supported Pakistan in critical moments, including last year when Beijing’s timely extension of loans helped Pakistan avoid a financial default.
Additionally, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China has steadfastly backed Pakistan’s fundamental interests on the global stage.
This gesture of offering free visas reflects Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing bilateral relations and fostering deeper cooperation with China.
